Rubio® Monocoat Pre-Aging is a high-quality, non-reactive, water-based pretreatment that gives new wood the authentic character of aged timber. Designed to mimic the natural patina of time, it adds depth and color variation without affecting grain or clarity. Pre-Aging creates an ideal base for finishing and can be layered beneath Rubio oils to achieve custom looks with heritage charm.

Available in a variety of warm and cool tones, it offers controlled aging effects that bring visual richness to interior wood projects. Easy to apply and fast drying, it delivers the look of history with the ease of modern technology.

When is it appropriate to use Pre-Aging Pre-Treatment Stain?
Pre-Aging is a water-based dye stain that also delivers an aged appearance but is non-reactive, making it suitable for virtually any wood species and ensuring a more consistent, even coloration. Additionally, while tannin-reactive stains like Rubio Monocoat Fumed may fade or shift in color over time, Pre-Aging offers greater color stability for long-lasting results.
